TOLEDO, OH -- Sunday night, four masked men burst into Joe Bodi's home in Monroe County, beat and robbed him. They may have had the same thing in mind for a Toledo man who was more fortunate.
Rick Thacker was watching television in the living room of his Suder Ave. home in north Toledo at approximately 2:00 AM Monday morning when there was a knock at the door. Thacker says he thinks the suspects were surprised to see him in the living room.
"I had my living room curtain partly open, and one of them looked inside and saw my television on," Thacker said.
When he got to his window, he saw four people fleeing across his lawn. It was too dark to get a description or tell if they were wearing masks.
Moments later, Thacker got a call from his neighbor across the street who apparently observed someone running from Thacker's house. As they talked, both men observed a burgundy minivan driving away from the scene.
Thacker thinks the four men were the same men who attacked Joe Bodi. According to Thacker, the Monroe County Sheriff's Department agrees. Thacker contacted a detective there the next day who told him the descriptions and crimes were similar.
Thacker says the only thing he knows about the men who knocked on his door that night is that they were young. "Only young kids can run as fast as those kids ran getting away from my house," Thacker said.
