EAST LANSING, MI (AP) -- East Lansing police say they believe a 3-year-old girl taken from her mother's home is in extreme danger.

An Amber Alert remains in effect early Tuesday morning for Amaya Marie Pernell, who was last seen at 9:35 p.m. Monday.

Amaya is described as a black female with brown eyes and black hair who stands 3 feet tall and weighs about 30 pounds. She was wearing multicolored striped pants and a long-sleeve white shirt.

Police say Amaya was abducted by her father, Lester Devon Pernell.  He is 6-foot-6, 220 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. He was seen wearing blue jeans and a long, dark dress coat and driving a Mercury Cougar with Michigan license plate number C-F-A-0-3-3-0. The vehicle had a dent or damage to the driver's side door.
