WASHINGTON (AP) - General Motors is recalling about 100,000 crossover vehicles to fix seat belts that could fail in a crash.

GM says the recall involves 2011 model year versions of the Cadillac SRX, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. The automaker says the seat belt buckle anchor for the driver and front passenger seats could break apart in a crash.

GM says it discovered the problem during testing in September. Dealers will modify the seat belt buckles free of charge.

The recall is expected to begin in mid-January.

Owners can contact Cadillac at (866) 982-2339, Chevrolet at (800) 630-2438 and GMC at (866) 996-9463. They can also consult the GM owner center website at www.gmownercenter.com.
