CLEVELAND (AP) - Ohio U.S. Sen. George Voinovich says in retirement he'll continue to live at his home on Cleveland's east side.

But the 74-year-old former Cleveland mayor tells The Plain Dealer he wants to spend more time at his condo on Florida's Gulf Coast. He says he wants to see how he likes it there.

The Republican is leaving the Senate after two terms. He counts among his accomplishments his work toward a "nuclear renaissance." Voinovich pushed to make it easier for nuclear power plants to get new licenses and financing, and to improve the oversight of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

His seat will be turned over to former Cincinnati congressman Rob Portman, the Republican who won this month's election. Voinovich says he believes Portman will be a great senator.
