TOLEDO, OH -- On the streets of Toledo it seems that everyone has an opinion about the "Issue 5" schools levy but at a public meeting Monday night with the superintendent only a handful of people turned up.
Getting parents and voters to trust the district's decision-making is proving one of the biggest hurdles for TPS but this was one opportunity to quiz Dr. Jerry Pecko and school board member Larry Sykes about school spending and improving underperforming schools that many passed up.
Still, some attendees have a message for voters.
"I would like everybody in Toledo to vote for and give the students the levy the opportunity and the teachers to help everybody graduate. I mean that's our main goal is for me since I'm a high school teacher is for them to graduate and become good citizens," said Mary Morales, TPS parent and teacher.
Along with a couple of presentations, Pecko and Sykes answered questions during the meeting.
