FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. (AP) - Authorities have filed a second-degree murder charge against the wife of a dead lawyer after police found scalpels, medical supplies and bloody bedding at their suburban Detroit home.
Laura Johnson was charged Friday with murder, an alternative count of manslaughter and unauthorized practice of medicine. She was ordered to remain in jail and a not-guilty plea was entered during a quick arraignment. A defense attorney was not present.
Her husband, Lloyd Johnson, died Wednesday, two days after being rushed to a hospital.
Brian Dailey, a lawyer for Lloyd Johnson's adult children, says Lloyd Johnson had recently told Laura Johnson that he wanted a divorce.
