TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A hospital patient in Toledo has died in an apparently accidental fall from the window of her fourth-floor room one day before she was scheduled to be released.

Police say 66-year-old Sharon Beebe stumbled and broke through the window pane at Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center on Saturday night, then fell onto a first-floor roof. Lucas County coroner's investigator Steve Kahle says nearby staffers reported hearing glass shatter at around 9:40 p.m.

Beebe was taken to the emergency room and pronounced dead less than an hour later.

Sarah Bednarski, a spokeswoman for the hospital's parent company, declined to comment beyond confirming the incident.

Police Sgt. Bill Wauford says there's no evidence of foul play.
