TOLEDO, OHIO -- The teenager who shot and killed a Toledo Police detective in 2007 has been moved from a juvenile facility in Columbus to the Toledo Correctional Institution, where he will serve the remainder of his sentence.

Robert Jobe, now 18-years-old, was found guilty of murdering Toledo Police detective Keith Dressel back in February 2007. 

Det. Dressel, 35, was shot when he stopped to question Jobe and another man who were standing on a street in the early morning hours of Feb. 21, 2007. During the trial, Jobe's attorneys acknowledged that Jobe fired the gun that killed the undercover detective. But they said Jobe didn't know Dressel was an officer and feared that the man was trying to attack him. The detective was shot once in the chest during a struggle with Jobe.

Jobe, then 15, was convicted on Nov. 9, 2007. He avoided a mandatory life sentence when the jury acquitted him on aggravated murder charges.  Judge Charles J. Doneghy sentenced the teen to 18 years to life in prison.  He received 15 years to life in prison for the murder and another three years for a gun specification.

After sentencing, Jobe was sent to the Madison Correctional Facility, and adult and juvenile facility where he remained until Tuesday, April 27. He is now incarcerated in the Toledo Correctional Institution in North Toledo. His first parole board hearing is not until December 2024.

Jobe turned 18 in February of this year.
