TOLEDO, OH -- UAW Local 12 President Bruce Baumhower says some of the 250 laid off Chrysler workers are reacting positively to the news that Chrysler might be adding two additional shifts to the Toledo North Assembly Plant.

"They are very excited about the opportunity to come back," Mr. Baumhower said.

While a final decision has not been formalized, Baumhower says a decision should come by spring.

"I would think there would be some decisions made soon  possibly in the first half of the year beacuse the models they want to build are 2013 and they need to build those in the 2012 calendar year," Mr. Baumhower said.

In its heyday, the UAW boasted a membership of 1.5 million members in 1990; that number is down to 390,000.
