ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) - An Ohio man is charged with resisting and obstructing police after authorities say he walked through a screening checkpoint at Detroit Metropolitan Airport.

Kalyan Policherla of Bryan, Ohio, was arraigned Wednesday on the misdemeanor charge. A preliminary examination was scheduled for Feb. 24.

The 27-year-old is accused of ignoring officers Monday at the airport's McNamara Terminal in Romulus. Police subdued Policherla while a portion of the terminal was evacuated, causing some flight delays.

A $10,000 bond was set for Policherla Wednesday, but he also faces a federal charge of violating air commerce security laws. A hearing on whether he will remain in custody on that charge is scheduled for Thursday.

The Associated Press left a message Wednesday evening seeking comment from his federal defender.
