TOLEDO -- The search continues, this week, for those still missing following the Italian cruise ship disaster that left over a dozen people dead.

On Tuesday, another body was recovered from the Costa Concordia bringing the confirmed death toll to 16.

The same day, students at the Maritime Academy of Toledo were taking part in training to brush up on their life saving skills.

"Preparation is key because if anything should happen...everyone should be at least familiar with procedure," training participant Tom Joyce said.

After the Costa Concordia ran aground off Italy's coast, earlier this month, numerous reports surfaced that there was chaos aboard the ship following the incident.

Tuesday's exercise at the Maritime Academy was aimed at teaching those who serve on commercial vessels, in U.S. Waters, how to respond in an emergency.

"You want it to become second nature so when an emergency does have you don't have to think about it," Maritime Academy of Toledo Foundation Director Dan Kleiboemer said.

The class also goes beyond teaching students in the classroom to ensure they're able to implement safety procedure in real life.

"It's not until the students get in the water...that they can really appreciate how hard working with this equipment can actually be," Kleiboemer added.

17 of those aboard the Costa Concordia were still unaccounted, as of Wednesday night.

Preliminary work to pump the half a million gallons of fuel from the ship is expected to begin Saturday.
