Sheriff's deputies recognized for keeping Lucas County safe

Sheriff John Tharp is pleased to announce the recipients of the Lucas County Sheriff's Office Employees of the Month for February, 2013.

Deputy Greg Haas, a 19 year veteran, is being awarded the Law Enforcement Employee of the Month. Haas was instrumental in the arrest of an aggravated burglary and breaking and entering suspect. This suspect was responsible for the loss of several thousands of dollars in property to victims in multiple jurisdictions.

Deputy Tryphosa Hill, also a 19 year veteran, is being awarded the Administrative Services Employee of the Month. Hill is being commended for his outstanding service and professionalism to the citizens, and fellow officers.

The Lucas County Sheriff's Office is also recognizing citizens for their assistance to officers during the month of January.

The Circle K Store located on Airport Highway in Springfield Township provided support to sheriff's deputies during a standoff on January 25, 2013.
The Circle K Store provided officers with beverages during this six hour standoff with a barricaded man on Airport Highway.

Deon Thompson and his son, Jaymie Thompson, are being recognized for assisting an officer in controlling a restraining an intoxicated person on February 11, 2013.

Sheriff Tharp will be presenting these awards on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 9 a.m. in the Jefferson Training Center located at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and 22nd Street.
