JERUSALEM TWP. -- Jerusalem Township Trustees have fired Fire Chief Harold Stanton after alleged misconduct.

Trustees voted unanimously Tuesday to terminate Stanton, who was nearing the end of a 15-day suspension handed down March 5. The  chief was placed on leave after trustees learned he allowed a non-township fire department member to help fight a fire. In a letter notifying Stanton of his suspension, trustees suggested Stanton had been instructed on numerous occassions to not permit individuals outside the department to assist in emergency situations.

WNWO was at Tuesday afternoon's meeting and will we have reaction on WNWO News at 6pm.
