Standoff between police and armed suspect ends

ADRIAN -- A standoff that lasted for more than nine hours between an armed robbery suspect and police ended early Sunday morning in Adrian.

The standoff started around 4:30 pm Saturday afternoon inside a vacant house located on West Maumee Street between Scott Street and Madison Street.

According to the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office, the suspect surrendered after tear gas was fired inside. The house was under surveillance after the suspect entered the home.

The person described as a 25 year old man is suspected in the robbery of a grocery store on Tuesday.

He's currently being held at the Lenawee County Jail.
