CURTICE -- The man in charge of Jerusalem Township's Fire Department is facing termination after being suspended from his position as fire chief.
Harold Stanton was given a 15-day suspension on Tuesday after township trustees claimed he allowed an individual outside the fire department to actively participate in emergency calls.
Jerusalem Twp. trustees notified Stanton of his suspension via letter. In it they suggest Stanton was instructed on numerous occassions to not permit individuals outside the department to assist in emergency situations. However, Stanton failed to follow those instructions, resulting in misconduct of his official duties.
Stanton will have the opportunity to appear at a public hearing on March 12, at the next regular meeting of township trustees. That hearing will determine whether Stanton should be terminated from his position.
