A Toledo man accused of stabbing a woman to death and mutilating her body has been found competent to stand trial.

According to court documents, 66-year-old James Day has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity for the murder of 49-year-old Joan Watson.

The victim was found stabbed to death at her west Sylvania apartment on January 13. Watson's neighbor told authorities that she found the woman with her chest "open." When police arrived, they found Watson on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds.
