TOLEDO -- Individuals receiving unemployment compensation will be the first to feel the effects of the so called sequester if the White House and Congresional Republicans are unable to reach a deal to avert the mandatory federal budget spending cuts. Brooks Vinson was laid off in November after 14 and half years of employment with Intersate Foods. His unemployment benefits are barely enough to cover his expenses. "Hopefully they will work out a solution, so that I could be able to take care of my children," Mr. Vinson said.
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur says 1,800 civil employees in Ohio's defense industry could be furloughed if the sequester goes into affect. Education and programs for the developmentally disabled could also be impacted.
