TOLEDO -- Community members and religious leaders held a candlelight vigil to remember victims of gun violence here in Northwest Ohio.
Organizing for action hosted the national day of action candlelight vigil Friday night at Monroe Street United Methodist Church.
The point of the vigil was to urge a decrease in gun violence here in Lucas County and across America especially after the Newtown tragedy, "something changed and I knew I needed to speak out. There are common sense things we can do that can bring about some real change in this country. I really believe that," says Cathy Johns, an organizer of the vigil.
At Friday nights vigil, gun law reforms and increasing aid for mental health, background checks and stronger penalties for criminals were some goals organizers want action taken.
