TOLEDO -- More than 25,000 Lucas County residents currently receiving food assistance from the state of Ohio could be eligible for coverage under the new expansion of Medicaid.  Carol Rehm, policy analyst with the Lucas County Department of Jobs & Family Services, explains that the expansion will include single adults bewteen the ages of 19 and 64 making no more than $15,415. "What we want to try to do is reach that group of newly eligible people and try to get them preventive healthcare," Mrs. Rehm said.

The US Census estimates that more than 593,000 people could be eligible to enroll in the Medicaid expansion which goes into effect  in January 2014.
