Job seekers met with representatives from green industry employers on Wednesday at Owens Community College in Perrysburg.

About 22 area employers met with students and residents interested in internships, and seasonal to full-time work. Employers from the areas of landscape, gardening and farming, conducted on-site interviews and accepted applications from hundreds who attended.

“This is amazing for me because my top five employers that I want to be working for are here today,” said Emily Horst, a junior at Owens Community College who is looking for an internship. Horst continued, “The more experience you have, the more people are looking at you to hire you.”

Roy McIntyre currently works for a lawn and tree services company in the Toledo-area, but attended the job fair as part of his Professional Issues course at OCC.

“There are a lot of companies here and they have a lot to offer,” said McIntyre, who landed 3 interviews and filled out as many applications at the job fair. He added, “I did some research on the companies and those are the companies I went to visit.”

Envirocare Lawn and Landscape, Schedel Arboretum and Gardens, the Toledo Zoo, and the Toledo Mud Hens were among the area employers at the job fair.
