Commuters who frequently travel on State Route 2 will need to plan a detour when construction begins on the bridge over Crane Creek next Monday.

The bridge will be closed for about three months to replace the bridge near the Lucas-Ottawa county line.

ODOT says it's better to do the work now than during the busy summer travel season. The bridge was built in 1952 and is in dire need of repairs, including new concerte and patching up deteriorating walls.

Drivers can detour using S.R. 579 and 51 between Route 2 and I-280. The new bridge is anticipated to open in May.
