One dead in deadly car and train collision

HENRY COUNTY -- One person is dead after a deadly collision between a train and car in Deshler Sunday afternoon.

According to Ohio State Highway Patrol, the victim is 48 year old Rebecca McCoy-Basore of Hamilton, Ohio.

State Patrol says the accident happened at 1:53 PM Sunday afternoon on County Road E near County Road 1. According to investigators,  Ms. McCoy-Basore failed to yield for a CSX train heading north on the tracks.

The train struck the drivers side of her 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix and dragged it 1000 feet before coming to a stop. The 48 year old woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

There are no crossing lights or gates where the crash occurred. Authorities continue to investigate a cause into the accident.
