A BB gun mistaken for a firearm near Raymer Elementary School sparked panic Friday morning.

During a press conference Friday morning, Toledo police said that two brothers walking to Raymer Elementary School just before 9 a.m. hid a non-operational BB gun to reportedly show their friends. A neighbor saw the children, 7 and 12, with the BB gun and called police, mistaking it for a firearm.
Officers located the brothers and they revealed where the BB gun was hidden. Police confiscated the air gun and the brothers were released to their parents.
There were no threats made and the school was never in danger, Sgt. Joe Heffernan said at the press conference.
