TOLEDO -- Just weeks after celebrating his 600th career coaching win, St. John's Jesuit basketball coach Ed Heintschel will face charges for driving under the influence in Maumee last year.
According to a statement released by the school, Heintschel was cited by Maumee police for operating a vehicle under the influence on Nov. 26, 2012. The charge did not occur during school hours and he was not driving to or from a school event, according to school officials.
Principal Brad Bonham said Heintschel has been a valued member of the St. John's Jesuit faculty for more than 30 years serving as a teacher, counselor and basketball coach. The school is supportive of Heintschel as he goes through this difficult period, the statement reads.
