BENTON TOWNSHIP, OHIO -- A Michigan semi truck driver admitted to being distracted by his cell phone when the vehicle crashed into a ditch on State Route 2 on Thursday night, according to the Sandusky Highway Patrol post.

According to the report, 26-year-old Justin Neal was driving the semi carrying a 16,000 pound load just east of S.R. 590 when he drifted off the right side of the road into the north ditch. Neal brought the commercial vehicle back onto the road and the trailer started sliding. The vehicle then crossed the center of the road and flipped over on its right side. The truck came to rest on its side with the tractor in the south ditch and the trailer completed blocking S.R. 2.

Neal sustained cuts to hand and was taken to an area hospital for minor injuries.

S.R. 2 was shut down for three and a half hours while crews working to clear the highway.
