TOLEDO -- A teenager was killed early Saturday morning after crashing his vehicle in the village of Ottawa Hills.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says Brian Hoeflinger, 18, of Ottawa Hills, was may have been under the influence of alcohol while driving his vehicle after midnight Friday.

Around 12:30 a.m., Hoeflinger is said to have been operating a 2008 Pontiac G6 southbound on Edgehill Rd. when he drove off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then caught on fire.

Hoeflinger was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The crash remains under investigation. Troopers say while alcohol is believed to be a factor, seatbelts were in use at the time of the crash.
