Police believe the 12-year-old pedestrian hit by a truck in East Toledo early Thursday crossed the intersection while the vehicle had the right of way.

According to the police report, 46-year-old Thomas Kalucki was traveling in his Dodge Ram westbound on Woodville Road when he saw the child crossing the intersection at Nevada Street at the last minute. Kalucki tried to change lanes, but the child doubled back and ran into the car, according to the report.

A witness told police the vehicle had the green-light when it traveled through the intersection, which makes the "do not cross" light illuminate for pedestrians.

The child was taken to a local hospital. His condition is currently unknown.
