HANCOCK COUNTY -- Hancock County authorities were led on a high-speed chase last night.
While on patrol, a deputy located a stolen vehicle on State Route 15 at County Road 193. After pulling the vehicle over, the driver took off, reaching speeds in excess of 110 mph. Bluffton Police were able to assist and deployed a spike strip, puncturing the front tires. The vehicle was stopped on I-75 southbound at mile marker 140.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as James Newton of Sharon, Pa. Newton is now in the Hancock County Justice Center.
