NEVADA, OHIO -- A mother and her two young daughters escaped from a house fire early Monday in rural Nevada.

According to the American Red Cross of Wyandot County, a disaster action team member responded to the fire on Township Road 68 around 3:30 a.m. They helped the family get food, clothing and comfort kits of personal hygiene items. The family made arrangements to stay with relatives in the area.

Red Cross caseworkers say they will continue to work with the family to provide additional assistance as necessary as well as information and resources to aid in their recovery planning.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released by the Wyandot East Fire Department.
