TOLEDO -- Scott High School celebrated its centennial celebration on Thursday, January 17. The first “bulldogs” proudly entered the doors to the regal building on Collingwood Avenue on September 8, 1913.
Thursday evening is the first of several community events that are planned to commemorate the rich heritage of Scott High School. Past administrators, students, alumni, board members and school supporters attended.
On October 19, 2013, is the 100 Year Homecoming Grand Weekend. A parade starts at 10 a.m., followed by a pep assembly with the Alumni Band, cheerleaders, and Scottettes. Admission is free and open to the public.
Later on that evening, a Centennial Celebration Banquet, begins at 5 p.m. with cocktails followed by dinner and a program at 7 p.m., for $75 or sponsor. On October 20, there will be a tour of the school building.
Friday, January 18, marks the end of the first semester for the 2012-2013 school year. This is a scheduled teacher workday— there is no school for students. Schools are also closed on Monday, January 21, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
