TOLEDO -- Flu cases have impacted people across the country and locally here in Northwest Ohio.

"It never hit home to me, so I wasn't really worried about it, because I was still moving and going on," says Yvonne Jett.

But Jett, went from moving and going to, "I got up and my stomach was real queasy and my head was pounding and I decided to just stay home in the bed," adds Jett.

Examples of people stricken with the flu has been seen by health officials at the Toledo Lucas County Health Department, "there's been a high rating of the flu here in Lucas County right now we can only track hospitalized cases, but in the last couple of weeks it's gone up," explains Stacy DeBruyne."

To meet the high demand, the department ordered a large number of vaccines. To prevent having more supply than they needed, the department held the walk in where 100 shots were given in two days."It kind of gives people an incentive to come if you're saying we're having a walk in clinic, you don't need to make an appointment just come in and come down," adds DeBruyne.

Collette Huff and her son took advantage of the walk in flu vaccines, "flu's really bad this season and he's already been hospitalized and so I figure if I can keep myself healthy, it will keep him healthy," says Collette Huff.

You can still arrange to get a flu shot by appointment by calling (419)-213-4163.
