ROSSFORD -- Over the last several years, the Rossford Fire Department receives a donation of $2,000.
Having received the $2,000 donation at the end of 2012, the Rossford Fire Department plans to purchase smoke detectors to give out to the community for free. The Fire Department will purchase around 500 smoke detectors.
"We can carry on our mission to keep our community safe…we want to make sure everybody has a working smoke detector, that is really important this time of year," Jim Verbosky, the Rossford Fire Chief said.
They will be available at the station to be picked up during the day time as well as at events held by the fire department. Handicapped or senior citizens are able to call and a firefighter will come to the house to install the smoke detector.
Verbosky also commented, "in light of these last few fires, that we have had in Northwest Ohio, especially the Seneca County family who all died, Toledo Fire made a rescue of a guy in North Toledo last week…It is not just a Rossford thing, it is everywhere."
