ADRIAN, MICH. -- Crime Stoppers of Lenawee County is asking for the public's help with information about an attempted murder and home invasion in Adrian over the weekend.

Authorities believe the incident took place in the 2700 block of Drexel Boulevard between 10 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 29 and 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 30. According to police, a neighbor heard someone yelling for help and went outside to investigate. The neighbor found 53-year-old Henry Merritt in the doorway of his home covered in blood and suffering from life threatening injuries, according to the police report.

When police and paramedics arrived at the scene, they discovered that the home had been forcibly entered and Merritt had been assaulted inside. The victim was transported to a Toledo area hospital by Life Flight, where he is currently listed in critical condition.

At this time, the Lenawee County Sheriff's Department does not have any suspects in custody but officials are currently interviewing people. Anyone with information can contact Crime Stoppers at (517) 266-6161 or (877) 276-8477.
