TOLEDO -- Leslie Robinson, has devoted the last several years of his life to speaking out about violence in Toledo.  Leslie's activism was instigated by the shooting death of his son several years ago. Leslie's focus has been on convincing ordinary citizens that they are the key to reducing violence.  "I think that law enforcement is doing the best that they can do but it comes down to people in the community saying I am going to do my part,"  Mr. Robinson said.

Last summer Robinson was asked to join the Toledo Community Initiative to Reduce Violence.  The council was created by Police Chief Derrick Diggs.  "We are still meeting, and in fact we will be meeting in two weeks and I would say that we are making progress," Mr. Robinson said.

The Toledo Blade reports that the Toledo metropolitan area recorded 53 homicides in 2012; up from 48 in 2011.
