Coldest stretch we've seen since last winter

We start out 2013 with the coldest air of the season working it's way into the region and causing temps to fall from the mid and upper 20's this morning into the upper teens by this evening as skies gradually clear.  This arctic airmass will continue to build overnight with more clearing and lows falling into the single digits for many of us just in time to head back to work and school on Wednesday morning.

With sunshine we'll only see highs getting into the mid 20's right on through the end of the work week, with overnight lows in the teens.  The only blemish before we get into the weekend will be the possibility of light snow showers Thursday night.

For the upcoming weekend we'll see the frigid airmass moderate a bit with highs getting into the 30's by Sunday.  Things trend warmer next week.

Happy New Year!
