TOLEDO -- Authorities are investigating 2 alleged stabbings at a University of Toledo dorm called International House.

One person is dead and another injured.

University officials sent out a warning to faculty, staff, and students, Wednesday night, after reports of a "dangerous situation". The dormitory on the university's Bancroft campus typically  houses hundreds of students but the school is currently on winter break.

According to a UT spokesman, "International House is home to six students during the winter break, four staff members and four student workers."

Officers from several local police agencies arrived at the scene around 9 pm  and "discovered a victim who appeared to have been stabbed and was transported to a local hospital. Shortly after, at 9:23 p.m., officers discovered a second victim who died from what appears to be injuries caused by a stabbing" said  UT vice president for external affairs Larry Burns.

In the initial warning, sent out via Twitter, people were asked to stay clear of the area while authorities worked to secure the scene.

A statement by the University read, in part, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, and we will provide additional information as it becomes available.”

Bryant Maddrick, Amulya Raghuveer, Brittany Patterson and Angi Gonzalez contributed to this report.
