Mild today - much different for the upcoming weekend
The mild and quiet weather we've enjoyed for the most part this month is about to be anything but as we move into the weekend and Christmas Day.
Today will be mild with a mostly cloudy skies and highs close to ten degrees above normal. With a bit of sinking air motion, we will likely see some limited amounts of sunshine breaking through a thick cloud deck. Highs get nearly ten degrees above normal into the mid 40s.
Showers develop overnight with nearly steady lows near 40 degrees. Thursday will be a transition day with periods of widespread, soaking rains, winds gusting to 35 mph and mild, if not warm, highs in the upper 40s.
A cold blast moves through with a powerful cold front Thursday night. After midnight, winds will howl to 50 mph, rain will turn to snow with minor accumulations of an inch or two and temps will fall into the lower 30s. Apparent temps Friday afternoon will be in the teens!
We'll clear things out over the weekend with some sunshine and highs in the lower 30's. It will be chilly Christmas week too... if we do see a couple of inches of snow by mid-day Friday (it all depends on the final track of the center of this dynamic storms) a White Christmas looks to be in store.
