TOLEDO -- Toledo Police say a Wednesday shooting that left one man with non-life threatening injuries was the result of a robbery attempt.

Authorities believe the victim, identified by the Toledo Blade as 29-year-old James Walker, was walking up to a home along Evesham Avenue when he and his brother were approached by two masked men.

The suspects demanded the victims' money and keys then allegedly shot Walker in the leg during the altercation.

Police say the suspects then took off in a vehicle belonging to Walker's mother, but quickly abandoned the car.

Just three days earlier, but around the same time, two men allegedly shot and killed a Toledo man during a robbery attempt.

On Monday, 42-year-old Anthony Fizer was shot twice outside his home on Winfield Road after he was approached by two suspects.

Authorities have made any arrests in Fizer's murder.

Officials have not made any connection between Fizer's homicide and the latest shooting.
