A Toledo woman charged with embezzling $2.1 million from a Temperance credit union has been barred by the state of Michigan from working in the credit union industry.

The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation made the announcement Tuesday in regards to Sharon Broadway.

State prosecutors say the 61-year-old stole money for more than 20 years by using aliases and forged checks.

The Toledo resident was the sole employee of United Catholic Credit Union in Temperance.

Before it closed, the bank had more than 200 members from Roman Catholic churches in Monroe County.

Broadway will face arraignment, on Friday, in Monroe County Circuit Court on the criminal charges against her.
