Ohio's deer-gun season is expected to draw about 420,000 hunters this year.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources' Division of Wildlife says the hunting week begins today and run through Dec. 2. The season also will include an extra weekend of hunting Dec. 15-16.

The state encourages all hunters to take proper safety precautions and wear hunter orange while hunting.

Deer can be hunted with a variety of firearms from one half-hour before sunrise to sunset during the season.

State estimates say hunting has an $859 million economic impact each year in the state through the sale of equipment, fuel, food, lodging and more.
