'The Lights Before Christmas' is back to draw families to the Toledo Zoo for dazzling lights, holiday treats and festive good cheer. Tonight, the holiday season starts with the ceremonial lighting of the Zoo's 85-foot Norway spruce tree, which Travelocity named one of the country’s best.

The tree is draped in more than 35,000 energy-saving LED lights comes aglow at the tree-lighting ceremony on Friday, November 16, between 6 and 6:30 p.m.

The Lights Before Christmas is presented by KeyBank. "We're pleased that we've been part of the Toledo Zoo's great event since its inception,” said James A. Hoffman, president of KeyBank's Northwest Ohio/Michigan District. "We invite the community to join us for a festive evening at the Zoo on Friday, November 16."

This year, in addition to over a million lights and more than 200 illuminated animals, plus carolers and ice-carving on selected evenings, the Zoo introduces the dynamic new Winter Playland attractions. Winter Playland activities are offered for a nominal fee; inclusive ride packages are available.
