Fort to Port project's final section opens Wednesday

TOLEDO -- The final portion of the Fort to Port highway between Toledo and Fort Wayne opens Wednesday.

The Indiana Department of Transportation held a ceremony Wednesday morning for the nearly 10 mile section between Indiana State Route 101 and the I-469 bypass.

Back in August, Ohio opened the final piece of the four lane highway connecting I-475 to I-469.

The project took more than 9 years to complete and is designed to reduce accidents on the highway.
