NORTHWOOD -- Factory workers at the Hostess plant in Northwood are still on strike.

WNWO cameras were there Friday night as about 40 members of the Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union hit the pickett line to protest.

The workers say the decision was made after 92 % of the unions members rejected a contract from the company."You have people running the company now that are wall street investors and stuff like that. They're not actually people who run bakeries. They stopped paying into our pension fund contractually they were supposed to be paying into people's pension fund," explains union representative John Price.

Hostess brands issued a statement in response to the strike. It says "A widespread strike will cause hostess brands to liquidate if we are unable to produce or deliver products. if that's the case, the company will move promptly to lay off most of its 18,300-member workforce and focus on selling its assets to the highest bidders."

Members say the contract they rejected would create an eight percent wage reduction and cuts in benefits. The workers join strikers at other plants nationally.

Hostess is in bankruptcy for the second time in eight years.
