TOLEDO -- Police in Sylvania Township helped bring an armed robber to justice Thursday after he fled a Toledo bank.
Dennis Vernon King, 63, was taken into custody after being stopped in the 7500-block of Central Ave. The suspect's car was spotted in the area of Central and Holland-Sylvania around 12:12 p.m.
According to Toledo Police, King robbed the PNC Bank branch at 4 S. Reynolds Rd. shortly before 12:00 p.m. Upon arrival at the bank, police sent out a description of an older heavyset white male armed with what appeared to be a handgun. They said he had just robbed the bank and fled in a white Oldsmobile Alero with Michigan license plate.
The suspect's car was spotted in the area of Central and Holland-Sylvania around 12:12 p.m. He was stopped near Central and Reynolds and arrested after evidence from the robbery was found inside his vehicle.
King has been booked into the Lucas County Jail on a charge of aggravated robbery.
