UPDATE: At 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, FirstEnergy reported 250 outages for Toledo Edison customers. In comparison to the hard-hit Sandy areas on the east coast, more than 930,000 Jersey Central Power & Light customers and 203,000 Metropolitan Edison customers are without power this morning.
FirstEnergy says the preliminary outage numbers could climb as the storm makes its way inland. Treacherous conditions and slow-moving storms are expected to delay utility workers' ability to repair powerlines.
To report an outage, customers should call 1-888-544-4877. Customers should immediately report downed wires to their electric company or local authorities. FirstEnergy warns citizens to always assume downed wires carry electricity, and to keep children and pets away.

ORIGINAL: The Associated Press reports Superstorm Sandy's high winds and rains have knocked out power to almost 250,000 Ohioans.
In Northwest Ohio, Toledo Edison reports around 135 outages in Fulton County, 75 outages in Lucas County, 74 in Ottawa County, and minimal outages in Seneca, Sandusky, Wood and Williams counties.
AEP's outage map shows few outages for Northwest Ohio customers, but almost 5,000 are without power in Stark County in the northeast.

The AP reports Sandy hit New Jersey on Monday night with 80 mph sustained winds, killing at least 16 people in seven states.
