Update: Crews are using one fire hydrant to put out the fire that broke out at Stickney Recycling plant in North Toledo early Thursday, but authorities at the scene tell our reporter that the situation is under control.
Our reporter says Stickney Recycling is also helping firefighters by using a heavy machine to turn over fire.
Since the plant contains potentially hazardous materials like demolition debris, asbestos and tires, firefighters are wearing face masks as a precaution.
Original report: Toledo fire crews are at the scene of a fire that broke out at Stickney Recycling Plant in North Toledo.
Fire dispatch says the blaze started in a dumpster that firefighters are containing with water. Our reporter at the scene says smoke has filled the area and he was told by authorities to move back.
According to Stickney Recycling's website, the plant accepts construction and demolition debris, asbestos, tires and yard waste. The plant is located at 4425 Creekside Avenue.
