MONCLOVA TWP. -- Maumee Western Road has reopened following a standoff at a duplex in Monclova Township early Thursday.

Police at the scene told WNWO they received a report of a man threatening to kill himself at a residence near Maumee Western and Eber Road around 1:14 a.m.

When Lucas County sheriff's deputies and a CIRT team arrived at the scene, the man had barricaded himself inside the residence.

A deputy attempting to make contact was grazed by a bullet that the man fired through the door of the residence, according to police. The deputy was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities heard two more shots fired and attempted to use tear gas to get the armed suspect out. The man died of self-inflicted injuries.

Several residents in the duplex were evacuated during the incident and Maumee Western Road was temporarily closed.
