DANBURY TOWNSHIP -- Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers suspect alcohol in a train-car crash that sent one Rocky River, Ohio woman to the hospital with incapacitating injuries early Sunday.

According to the patrol, 33-year-old Tiffany Fischer was traveling southbound on South Danbury Road when she stopped her vehicle on the railroad tracks at the Norfolk and Southern Railroad crossing around 5 a.m.

Fischer reportedly exited her vehicle and was standing along the driver's side of the car as a 72-car train approached from the west. Fischer waved her arms to alert the engineer that her car was on the tracks, but the train was unable to stop before striking the car.

The force of the collision caused the car to spin counterclockwise, striking Fischer. The train came to a stop about 2,100 feet east of the crossing.

Emergency responders transported Fischer by Life flight to a Toledo hospital. Her condition is unknown at this time.

A patrol spokesman said Monday morning that the crash was still under investigation since they had not yet been able to communicate with Fischer. Charges are pending at this time.
