BOWLING GREEN, OH -- Two Ohio Northern University football players are facing charges following an assault on a Bowling Green police officer.

The officer was conducting an investigation with a suspect, later identified as Ohio Northern University football player Jason Tello. Tello allegedly provided false information to the officer which led to a foot pursuit. The officer then deployed his stun gun to temporarily incapacitate him. The officer was then assaulted by a second suspect which allowed both men to flee the scene.

Police would later positively identify Tello by his cell phone which was left at the scene. The second subject who assaulted the officer was identified as Ohio Northern University football player Joseph Castro.

Both men were arrested by Ada police department and were transported to Multi-County Corrections Center in Marion, Oh pending a hearing in Hardin County.

Tello is being charged with one count of tampering with evidence and one count of obstructing official business. Castro is being charged with one count of assault with a peace officer specification.
