TOLEDO -- At 3-months of age, Kirby the Pit Bull puppy should change his name to Lucky after surviving being shot and catching parvo.

Even with all the bad luck, the pup keeps trucking along with a few more hurdles ahead of him. Kirby’s leg bone was completely shattered from the bullets and is held together by a pin. He will undergo let amputation surgery Tuesday, October 2nd. The dog described as a “Lover” by Lucas County Pit Crew, will have to learn how to walk with three limbs.

The Lucas County Pit Crew was able to raise online donations for Kirby’s estimated $1,400 operation. He will be in the hands of Dr. Gary Thompson at West Suburban Animal Hospital.

Kirby will “hopefully” be ready for adoption on National Pit Bull Awareness Day, October 20th, outside PetSmart at Spring Meadows.
